We hold meetings on the Thursdays and Sundays at the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust, Washington, in the Discovery Centre and meetings start at 7 pm.

  • On the 2nd Sundays of each month are dedicated Astronomy workshops and observing (Weather permitting).
  • On the 3rd Sundays of each month are dedicated SAS Lectures and observing (Weather permitting).
  • On the 1st & 4th Sundays are more of relaxed format, social chit chat, etc, observing (Weather permitting), etc.

Meetings are free to attend, so you can come along and see if the Society is for you before you join up. Also to socialize and join in the craic on all things astronomical.

2nd Sunday of the Month

3rd Sunday of the Month

Meetings on the 3rd Sunday of the month are Lecture Meetings and feature a talk lasting around 45 – 120 minutes talk, either by a visiting professional astronomer or an experienced amateur astronomer given on all things astronomical.
We also to observe outside and in/around the observatory (weather permitting), socialize and join in the craic on all things astronomical.

Thursdays & Sundays of the Month

From September 5th 2013, the SAS  on Thursday evenings & Sunday evenings (i.e. on the 1st & 4th Sunday evenings) to the public and members from 7pm till 9pm given available volunteers & weather permitting.
