Astrophotography Competition 2017

This years astrophotography competition on 21st May 2017 had two main categories

  1. Solar System,
  2. Deep Sky

Three classes of astrophotography for:

  1. Beginners,
  2. Intermediates.
  3. Advanced .

The images in all categories were of a very high standard this year and in some cases between the  intermediate and advanced classes the votes separating the winner and runner-up were separated by couple of votes!

  • Intermediate, won by Ron Palgrave. Astro image: Venus.
  • Advanced, won by Graham Darke. Astro image: Sinus Iridium region of the Moon.

Deep Sky

  • Beginner, won by Dennis Hogarth, Astro image: Messier 42 (M42).
  • Intermediate, won by David Ettie, Astro image: Messier 3 (M3).
  • Advanced, won by Graham Darke, Astro image: Messier 42 (M42).

Deep Sky

  • Intermediate, runner-up by Kris Dawson, Astro image: Milky Way galaxy.
