SAS Astrophotography Competition 2023 (voting via Facebook, award presentations at Wetlands)

SUNDERLAND ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY ANNUAL PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION.
SUNDAY 30th JULY 2023

PLEASE NOTE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RULES ONLY POSTS THAT INCLUDE A SOCIETY MEMBER’S SUBMITTED PHOTOGRAPH AND IMAGE DETAILS ARE ALLOWED. OTHERS WILL BE REMOVED.
PLEASE READ ALL THE RULES BEFORE POSTING.

Here is your chance to show off your astronomical images taken in the last year.

The format for submitting images will the same as last year, although the categories are changing slightly to simplify them and reflect the advancing technologies.
Entries are to be posted here as comments on this Facebook post and as last year winners will be decided on the number of “likes”. 

We will hold an awards ceremony in person at the Washington Wetlands Centre on Sunday 30th July 2023.
Members therefore won’t have to get images printed, which I’m sure all will agree is more environmentally friendly.

Some simple rules apply, so please read carefully:

1 The competition is open to entries from full society members from now and closes to new entries at 8pm Saturday 29th July
2. Voting will close at 8pm on Sunday 30th July
3. The most “likes” on Facebook will determine the winners.
4. CATEGORIES are:
     i.   SOLAR SYSTEM:- this includes, the Moon, planets, the Sun, comets, intact anything in the solar system.
     ii.  DEEP SKY:- anything outside the solar system.
     iii. MOBILE PHONE:- the best image taken with a mobile phone.

A winner and Runner up will be awarded in each category.
Also an additional award will be made to the best image from a “Newcomer” that is anyone who has started astrophotography in the last year.

5 The competition is open to entries from full society members only,  (any images posted by non members will be removed) and images should have been taken since the last competition (May 2022)
6 Voting is open to ALL in our Facebook group. So if your not a society member you can still take part in the voting.
7 You can vote for, (like) as many images as you wish. All of the “like” imogis’ (👍😀❤ etc.) will count as 1 vote.
8. When entering your image please state:- Name of the subject, date taken and equipment used. Create a new comment for each image you enter.
9 Any comments other than those attached to the image will be removed.

Prizes will be the all important winner and runner up certificates.
