SAS visits Derwent Sailing Club.

Location

They are located on the North side of Derwent Reservoir (West of our Dark Sky site) just off the A68 between Corbridge and Consett, providing easy access by car from Hexhham, Newcastle and Durham. We also have many members travelling from Northumbria, Darlington and Sunderland.

Driving Directions
For Sat Nav users the post-code DH8 9PT will usually work, however some Sat Nav’s will take you to the otherside of the reservoir with this postcode.

From North or South, the easiest directions to follow are to follow the A68 to Kiln Pit Hill. At Kiln Pit follow the signpost for Slaley (from the South you turn left, from the North turn Right). Take the second turning on the left then follow the road along for about 2 miles until you see a sign for “DRSC 100 yards”. The club entrance is on the left.

Event Format: An astronomy related talk, possible demos and observing afterwards, if the weather is favorable.

Any help from our SAS members is very welcome, with or without telescopes.
